Canadian Engineering Competition 2022

Intuith - Innovative Design

March 2022

During my last year of undergrad, I competed in various competitions in 2022 with a team of fellow Mechatronic Systems Engineering and Sustainable Energy Engineering students. We competed in the Western Engineering Competition, placing first in Innovative Design. Afterwards, competing in the Canadian Engineering Competition, we placed second in the same category. The design project we developed and presented for both competitions was a personal safety device that utilizes computer vision and a thermal camera to check for possible persons in the user's blind spot while walking. More specifically, I was responsible for creating the dataset of thermal readings and training the computer vision model used on the portable device.
